What patients say about the clinic

Patient reviews from Google, names attached. 4.3 average across 67 reviews.

I had my first consultation with Dr. Tumi, and he was beyond fabulous. From the jump, he shook my hand and introduced himself to my daughter and I. He included her in the conversation and even had some laughs with her. This made the situation alot less vulnerable given the reason I was there. He is the second surgeon that I have met with, and wasn't going to be my last, until I decided he was the last. It is because of his honesty, integrity, authenticity and professionalism, that made my choice. I saw some comments in the reviews where people stated he made them feel uncomfortable while getting undressed and for me that did not happen. He was respectful of my space and was sure I was covered appropriately. I went to see him for a breat augmentation and Dr. Tumi did not think an augmentation would be required. I really appreciated that about him, because the first surgeon I met, insisted this procedure, despite me only wanting a lift with fat transfer. This is a huge cost savings for me, and more natural for my body type, and in my opinion. Dr. Tumi did not make me feel rushed with any questions and time was not ever an issue for him. He wanted to be sure I knew all that I needed. His office manager Karyn, was absolutely wonderful and easy to connect with. She took her time to discuss things that I did not think of and even called me over the weekend when I emailed her some more questions. This is above and beyond care. My surgery is April 20th and I know I am in good hands. I will follow this up with further reviews in the future and have no doubt it will be 5 stars across the board. One last thing... of all the reviews, I paid attention to the ones where the patients actually had surgery, not the ones who were disgruntled about the office staff or OHIP issues. After all, it is the surgeon we want precision with, isn't it? Thanks Karyn and Dr. Tumi, for making me comfortable and content.

Frequently asked questions

Laser Treatments questions,
answered

The Sciton Joule, a modular platform that supports BBL, HALO and laser peels. Treatment is delivered by the clinic's trained clinical team, working under the direction of Dr. Tumi.

BBL targets colour, so brown pigment and redness. HALO is a hybrid fractional laser that works on texture, tone and collagen at two depths. If the concern is spots and redness, BBL. If it is texture and overall quality, HALO. Some people benefit from both.

It is quoted at the consultation, per treatment and area, with courses priced as a package. It depends on the treatment and the area. Not covered by OHIP. Financing is available.

Sensation varies by device. Most people describe BBL as a snap with heat, and ablative treatment as more uncomfortable. BBL and hair removal need no numbing beyond the handpiece's own cooling. Halo and laser peels are numbed with a cream for forty-five to sixty minutes, and a deeper peel with local anesthetic.

It depends entirely on the treatment. BBL is minimal. A deeper laser peel involves genuine recovery with peeling. BBL and hair removal take a few hours. Halo takes five to seven days. A light laser peel takes three to five days, and a deeper one seven to ten.

Typically two to three BBL sessions, one to two Halo, one deeper laser peel or a series of light ones, and six to eight hair-removal sessions. BBL is usually a course, ablative resurfacing may be a single treatment, and hair removal is always a course.

Skin tone changes which device and which settings are appropriate, and in some cases changes the recommendation entirely. This is decided in person. Fair to medium skin types are treated with every device. Darker skin types are treated with adjusted settings, and with a test patch where the platform allows. Some treatments are declined for the darkest skin types.

It is possible, but sun exposure before and after is the main constraint, and results are better when it can be avoided. Many people prefer autumn and winter for that reason.

Not meaningfully. Laser treats skin quality: tone, texture, pigment and fine lines. Loose skin is a different problem and is treated with skin tightening or surgery.

Yes. Which treatment suits you depends on what is on your skin and on your skin type, and neither can be judged from a description. ---

Timing matters more with laser than with almost any other treatment, and it is the thing most people do not plan for. Sun is the constraint. Light-based treatment on recently tanned skin carries a higher risk of burns and of pigment changes afterwards. Treated skin is also more vulnerable to sun for a period afterwards, and sun exposure at that point can undo a pigment result completely or leave it worse. Autumn and winter are the usual recommendation in Ontario for that reason. A course started in May, then interrupted by a summer of sun, rarely produces the result it should have.

Light-based treatment works by targeting pigment. That means your own skin pigment is part of the equation, alongside the pigment you want removed. Darker skin tones need different settings, sometimes a different device, and sometimes a different treatment altogether. Being assessed in person rather than booked from a description is not a formality here. It is how burns and post-inflammatory pigmentation are avoided. Fair to medium skin types are treated with every device. Darker skin types are treated with adjusted settings, and with a test patch on the platforms that allow it.
